What is the Best Martial Art for a Street Fight
What's going on guys, I'm going to be talking about the best martial arts for a street fight. Okay, a lot of you guys want to get into martial arts, but you don't know where to begin.
So I'm going to be breaking down individual martial arts, talking about the benefits of each of them. Okay, and first we're going to start with boxing. You think of boxing, you think of punches.
You think of street fighting, you think of punches. Okay, so boxing is going to go over all of that. It's going to teach you how to throw proper punches, but it's also going to show you the defense too.
How to react accordingly when punches are coming in, show you how to slip, how to move, good footwork, rolling under punches, and blocking punches. Okay, so if you really want to focus on that stuff, ending a fight with your hands, boxing is the way to go. Next is Muay Thai.
Okay, Muay Thai is a little more well-rounded in that it's going to be teaching you kicks, knees, elbows, okay, and the clinch, which is really important. In boxing, when you clinch up with someone, the ref breaks it up almost immediately. In Muay Thai, or in a street fight, when you clinch up, there's no ref to break it up.
So in Muay Thai, they teach you the elbows, they teach you how to spin, sweep, knee to the body, pull the head down, knee to the face. So again, a little more well-rounded. It's going to be teaching you how to deal, you know, in tight, close quarters, grappling.
Keeping the theme of grappling going, we're going to go into jiu-jitsu. So a lot of times in a street fight, you'll get pulled down to the ground and it's ground fighting. You got to know how to defend yourself on the ground.
Brazilian jiu-jitsu is, bar none, the best that you can learn for ground defense. So you're going to be learning how to choke people out, how to defend against chokes. You're going to learn how to fight off your back and sweep people, you know, flip them over so that you're on top, you're in a more dominant position.
The only thing about street fighting, and I always, always say, you never want to go to the ground, because if there's other people around, they can be stomping on your head. That is no good. So, the next martial art I'm going to be talking about is just traditional wrestling.
You join your high school or just find a club wrestling team. This way you can learn how to defend against takedowns, or if you have to, you know, take people down. On top of that, conditioning, you know, the weight training, just wrestlers are tremendous athletes.
So you're going to be in tip-top shape, you're going to be strong, you're going to have high endurance, you're going to be able to take people down at will, and you're going to be able to defend against takedowns. So wrestling is another great grappling art to learn for a street fight. Another, another important martial art that you should look into is Kali, or even Krav Maga.
These are more militaristic, real-life martial arts that are going to teach you weapon defense. Okay, like I said, street fighting, there's going to be weapons out on the street. There's going to be bats and knives and guns.
Kali or Krav Maga are going to teach you how to disarm someone, how to deal with, you know, an armed, an armed opponent, someone who comes up to you with a gun, someone who puts a knife to your throat. You want to be safe, you want to be well-rounded, you want to be in tip-top shape, you want to be confident, and you want to know how to defend yourself. So, recommendations are a martial arts gym that can teach all of these things.
